PhD Defense of Sander
We are happy to announce that on Monday 12/5 our collegue Sander Noels defended his PhD thesis titled “Modern Accounting in the Age of AI”.
Congratulations to Sander, all of his collaborators, and to his family and friends!
A heartfelt thank you to his jury members, advisors and promotors Benjamin Vandermarliere, Ken Bastiaensen, Tim Vandecasteele, Joris Van Der Gucht, Lisa Miles-Heal, Sébastien Viaene, Pieter D., Jefrey Lijffijt, Steve Yang, Daniel E. O’Leary, Thomas Demeester, Filip De Turck and Tijl De Bie.
Over the past 4 years Sander embarked on an exciting PhD journey full of changes. It all started at Boltzmann, transitioned into working for its acquirer, Silverfin, and eventually became part of the Visma family—all while closely collaborating with the AIDA research group at Ghent University. As a Baekeland doctorate (thanks to VLAIO - Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship!) he worked at the crossroads of academia and industry. According to Sander, “Finding research topics that were both valuable for the company and publishable internationally required some serious creativity and effort”. Continuing with our tradition of not letting anyone go, Sander will continue to be part of the AIDA research group, now, as a Postdoctoral researcher!
