Tijl has been awarded an ERC Advanced Grant titled VIGILIA running 2024-2029.
The Flanders AI Research Programme (led by Sabine Demey) has been renewed for a five-year term, also 2024–2028.

MaryBeth & Maarten launched the FAIRRET library, which enables fairness constraints to be integrated into model learning in straightforward manner.
Alex R. is developing KamerRaad, a chatbot that enables you to ask questions about all proceedings of the Belgian Parliament (De Kamer).
Edith made a first version of TRACE available, which enables exploration of the quality of two-dimensional embeddings, such as t-SNE/UMAP visualisations, of (big) data.

Maarten’s work on the inherent limitations of AI fairness has been published in ACM’s flagship journal: Communications of the ACM.
Yoosof and Nan’s Challenge-based survey of e-recruitment recommendation just appeared in ACM Computing Surveys.
Nan’s work on Quantifying and reducing envy and inferiority for fair recommendation of limited resources (e.g., jobs) has been published in ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology.
Yoosof’s work ReCon: reducing congestion in job recommendation using optimal transport has been published in IEEE Access.
Raphaël’s paper Exploring the Performance of Continuous-Time Dynamic Link Prediction Algorithms just appeared in Applied Sciences.

Jef assisted the education department of Ghent University in developing an online course (with video clips) to introduce all ~50.000 students to Generative AI.

Maarten, MaryBeth, and Tijl co-organise the BIAS workshop at ECML-PKDD. The call for contributions is open until June 15.
Alex, Bo, and Tijl organise the AI4HR & PES workshop at ECML-PKDD. Same due date for contributions as above.
Tijl co-organises the RecSys in HR workshop at ACM RecSys. A call for papers is in preparation.
